内容記述 | The Science Partnership Project (SPP), sponsored by the Japan Science and Technology Agency, is one of several programs that link science education between university teachers and students from elementary to high school. We have been conducted this program for high school students in Asahikawa city for five years, In 2011, we newly attempted to perform a program entitled "Know your own body" for junior high school students. The aim of this program is to encourage younger students to get interested in both human body and life sciences. This program basically consisted of laboratory exercises with four themes(microscopic observation of oral mucosal cells, Morris water maize test using mice, human gustatory and cutaneous sense testing, and osteology at an elementary level) and related lectures. Since this program was designed for younger students, each exercise of these themes was performed under the following three conditions; one is not to sacrifice animals, another to avoid invasive techniques such as drawing blood and giving injections, and the other to give exercise at each junior high school. In this year, more than ninety students participated in this program from two junior high schools in Asahikawa city. The questionnaire survey showed that eighty nine percent of the students felt a sense of fun in this program, and that eighty six percent of them wanted to participate in this kind of programs again. These results strongly suggest that this line of activities is one of successful attempts for motivational education for junior-high and high school students, and that its continuous practice has spillover effects on these students. | |||||
